Warzone 2 & MW2 Ricochet Anti-Cheat: Will Using a Modded Controller Get You Banned?

Will RICOCHET Anti Cheat get you banned? All performance enhancements and devices that are safe and not safe to use are covered in the article.

Ricochet Anti-Cheat

RICOCHET Anti-Cheat Initiative is a comprehensive strategy to combat cheating that uses a variety of techniques to promote fair play and safeguard the gaming experience.

The system incorporates new server-side tools that monitor analytics in order to detect cheating. This means that cheaters can be caught in the act without any need for players to report them manually.

RICOCHET Anti-Cheat was first introduced in 2021 and has since been implemented in a number of popular games, including Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® II and Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0. The initiative is continually evolving and adapting to new forms of cheating, ensuring that players can enjoy a fair and secure gaming experience.

How does it work? RICOCHET's server-side tools monitor gameplay data to identify unusual patterns of behavior that may be indicative of cheating. The system can detect everything from aimbots to wallhacks and uses a variety of algorithms and statistical models to differentiate between legitimate and illegitimate gameplay.

In addition to the server-side tools, it also uses client-side software. Its kernel-level driver is a type of computer code that operates with high privileges on your system, granting access to all resources while running.

If RICOCHET Anti-Cheat detects that a player is cheating, several actions may be taken depending on the severity of the infraction. In some cases, the player may simply receive a warning or be temporarily banned from the game. In more serious cases, the player's account may be permanently banned, preventing them from accessing the game in the future. The anti-cheat will benefit PC and console players (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S), playing via cross-play with the PC ones.

Updates for Warzone 2 Season 3

Warzone 2 Season 3 patch notes

For the third season, the RICOCHET team has got your back with standard and new anti-cheat techniques. And let me tell you, some of these new methods are downright hilarious.

First off, we've got cloaking. No, not the Harry Potter kind. This nifty little trick hides legit players from cheaters, so they can't target or harass you. But wait, there's more! The best part is that non-cheating players can still see and shoot the cheater. It's like a game of hide-and-seek, but the cheaters are the only ones not invited to the party.

Next up is disarming. This technique is a real gem for those of us who have had enough of those pesky aimbots. Essentially, if you're caught cheating, the game will strip you of your weapons. No more easy kills for you, cheater!

And finally, we have the damage shield. This one's for the legit players who are tired of being taken down by cheaters. The damage shield creates a protective layer around you, deflecting all damage inflicted by cheaters. It's like having a personal force field—take that, cheaters!

Standard punishments are also in place, such as warnings, account suspensions, and bans. But let's be real: these new anti-cheat methods are way more fun. So, if you're a legit player, rest easy knowing that the RICOCHET team has got your back. And if you're a cheater? Well, let's just say that karma's coming back at you.

RICOCHET Can Detect Cronus Now

 CRONUS ZEN by Collective Minds

In a recent announcement, the team revealed that they've added a new feature to their anti-cheat system. This feature enables RICOCHET to detect players who are using "third-party hardware devices," like Cronus devices that can nullify recoil in games like Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.

Cronus is a gaming device that can be plugged into gaming consoles and computers. It is marketed as a tool to enhance gameplay, but it's also notorious for being used as a cheating device.

Cronus works by intercepting and manipulating input signals from controllers, keyboards, and mice. This means that it can be used to automate actions, such as rapid-fire shooting, and to map complex actions to a single button press. Essentially, it gives players an unfair advantage by allowing them to perform actions that are not possible through normal gameplay using their hands and a controller.

However, it's important to note that not all uses of Cronus are considered cheating. Rapid Fire is not a concern for Richochet and won’t get you banned, while the Anti-Recoil hack will. Also, many players use it to customize their gaming experience and make it more accessible for them. For example, players with disabilities may use Cronus to remap buttons and make it easier to play.

Custom PS5 Controller

Are Modded Controllers Bannable?

Continuing on the subject of gaming performance enhancements, we can't help but mention one of the strongest gaming trends: modded controllers. These controllers are customized with additional features and functionalities that can help give you a competitive edge and improve your overall gaming experience.

The concept of modded controllers has been around for quite some time, with the first attempts at modifying gamepads going back to the Mad Catz turbo controllers. However, it wasn't until around a decade ago that the term "modded controller" really gained widespread popularity, particularly with the Xbox 360 and PS3 systems.

We will focus on the three types of modifications that are offered on any pro-gamer controller, are legal to use, and, if that wasn’t enough, are officially licensed by Microsoft and Sony.

Remappable Back Paddles

The most important and demanded modification is the back buttons or paddles. The PS5 users are especially excited about them.

These are programmable buttons (paddles) located on the backside of the controller that can be customized to perform specific functions. By adding back buttons, players can free up their thumbs from having to constantly reach for the face buttons on the controller, allowing for a more efficient and fluid gaming experience.

Some common uses include mapping frequently used commands, such as reload or jump, to the back buttons for easier access during gameplay.

Back buttons can be especially useful in games that require fast reflexes and quick reaction times. By freeing up the thumbs and mapping important commands to the back buttons, players can react faster and perform more complex maneuvers without having to take their fingers off the joysticks.

Controller Mods & Macros

Mega Modz Controller Mods & Macros

Up next are more complex macros that allow not only stock button remapping but also advanced inputs to them. The most popular are turbo (button mashing), auto double and triple tap, and continuous press. These allow for even greater control and precision during gameplay via a variety of ways to personalize your controller button inputs.

While macros offer very extensive customization capabilities for the user, there are also so-called standard mods that come already pre-built on a controller. In essence, mods are pre-programmed macros, already set up on your controller buttons. Compared to macros, they offer less customization but also don't require much programming and are easier to use. All you gotta do is activate them by pressing a few buttons in a specific order. Once you are ready to try a mod action in your gameplay, you press a button associated with the mods, and the controller presses the corresponding button(s) for you.

As you can see, using standard mods isn't cheating, as it doesn't violate any of the criteria RICOCHET would classify as a hack. It's just a controller pressing buttons for you in a manner that is hard for a human to replicate on a constant basis.

At Mega Modz, there is a big selection of safe-to-use mods for PS5 and Xbox systems. Just imagine how Rapid Fire could give you the edge in firing, or how Fast Reload could give you lightning-quick ninja-like reloading skills. And if you're all about quick scoping, then Quick Scope is the way to go for mastering your skills. These mods are mainly built for major FPS and battle royale games and have already won over tons of gamers thanks to their user-friendly setup and navigation through your existing controller buttons.

Mechanical Shoulder & Face Buttons

Mega Modz Mechanical Shoulder Buttons

The third cool modification that has gained a lot of popularity among pro gamers is mechanical face and shoulder buttons. Unlike the standard buttons on a regular Xbox controller, mechanical buttons use a different type of mechanism to register inputs.

They typically use mechanical switches that provide tactile feedback when pressed. This means players can feel a physical click or resistance when pressing the button, giving them a better sense of control and precision during gameplay.

One of the main benefits of mechanical buttons is their responsiveness. Since they provide tactile feedback and have a shorter actuation distance than standard buttons, players can register inputs more quickly and accurately. This can be especially beneficial in fast-paced games that require quick reflexes and precise timing.

Additionally, mechanical buttons are often more durable than standard buttons, meaning they can withstand more wear and tear over time.

XBOX SERIES X

Bottom Line

Despite a common belief that modded controllers can get you banned, they cannot as long as they come with macros or mods such as those mentioned above. All they do is allow users to utilize automatic button presses (macros) in an efficient and customizable way. Without altering or manipulating the game code in any way, they allow users to do as much as they would be able to do with their own fingers.

In fact, official Microsoft Elite 2 and Sony PS5 Edge controllers with remappable back buttons are also a performance modification over standard, unmodded controllers.

The market is also filled with licensed, 3rd-party turbo and macro controllers from Microsoft and Sony. We are talking about macro functionality on a Nacon Revolution Pro model, back paddles on Scuf Refex, Victrix Pro BFG, and mechanical buttons on a Razer Wolverine V2 Pro, to name a few.

Therefore, modded controllers are legal and have customizable features to enhance your gameplay that don’t fall under any of the following hacks: aimbots, wallhacks, trainers, stats, texture or leaderboard hacks, injectors, or any other software used to deliberately modify the game data on disk or in memory.

Out of them all, Aimbot is the most notorious hack. Many are under the illusion that cheating is something that modded controllers offer and that it will help them get the results they want. But in reality, the aimbot is a complex program that is only possible on PC gaming, as it takes data from the game and uses it to automatically aim at enemy targets. It is hacking the game code, and using it will get your account banned. It is not offered on regular modded controllers, in fact, it is impossible to implement on a gaming controller.

To sum up, consider your gaming gear thoughtfully so that you will gain a fair advantage and have a better and more personalized experience while following the community guidelines.
