Microsoft is reportedly working on the next-gen Xbox Elite Controller

The second version of Xbox Elite gaming controller is rumored to become available for users later this year. What do we know about the gadget so far?

The hottest news about Microsoft preparing the sequel to Xbox Elite pad has been recently leaked to the video gaming market. The new gadget is supposed to be presented to the public during the E3 show in June, 2018 and is rumored to be called either Xbox Elite S or 2.0 version.

It has been over two years since Microsoft released Xbox Elite controller, which is, in our opinion, the best gaming controller ever made by man. Back in the time, no one said they were going to buy it because of the biting $150 price tag. However, once gamers got their hands on the gadget and tested its capabilities in action, everyone loved it. The current generation of Xbox Elite controllers has become a huge success among fans with over 2 million devices being sold globally.

The gadget’s sales numbers are no accident as the gaming pad offers a lot of room for customization: different styles of thumb sticks and d-pad included in the package, four removable paddles for an easier finger access, an option to adjust controller buttons and triggers sensitivity levels, two user profiles with an ability to save the optimal settings for favorite games and switch between the profiles on the fly.

However, users have reported few build issues with the first version of the gadget. The most common ones are the quality of the analogue sticks that wear off rather quickly and the paddle travel distance that seems to be not deep enough.

From what has been leaked to the public, version 2.0 of Xbox Elite controller will feature a number of improvements in design and gadget’s functionality.

The body of the new controller seems smaller compared to the original version which may be a good thing as it will offer a better reach to all the buttons and paddles. The grips will be also improved providing a more steady feeling to the users.

One of the most important changes is the new rechargeable undetachable battery which is going to make the controller the first Xbox gaming pad with built-in battery.

The sequel to Xbox Elite controller is rumored to feature USB type C and the bluetooth function that will allow using the device on console and Windows 10.

The second generation of the product is assumed to come with 3 level hair trigger locks letting gamers to adjust them the best way depending on the game played and the performance needs. The issue with the paddles is also supposed to be addressed as the unit will feature a longer key travel for the paddles. Another cool upgrade might be an adjustable analog-stick tension option as Microsoft applied for a patent on this stick design at the end of 2017.

Last but not least, comes an ability to switch between 3 user profiles with saved custom settings as opposed to 2 that the first generation of Xbox Elite controllers came with. Now players will get even a sharper competitive edge in the game as the settings for up to 3 games can be stored and accessed within seconds.

So far it looks like the new Elite controller will be the ultimate gaming device offered on the market in 2018, but the information on the gadget specs will stay unconfirmed until the E3 conference. We can’t wait for the product launch and hope that Xbox Lab will be an option to customize its looks as having such a powerful device in a plain black color is simply boring.
